This episode is part of our early archive before the official relaunch of Looks Creepy Cool, the podcast of Haunted House FearFest. The format has since evolved, but we’ve kept these conversations available for fans and horror history.

We are celebrating Women’s History Month with Horror Female Filmmaker Mahee Merica.
In this episode, sit down with  filmmaker Mahee Merica about her journey in filmmaking and her award-winning short film, Ariana's Baby. Mahee  shares her background in political science and how she discovered her passion for cinema. She discusses the inspiration behind Ariana's Baby, a psychological horror film that explores the fears and anxieties of motherhood and won the 2023 Best Psychological Horror Short at the Haunted House FearFest Film & Video Game Festival. Mahee also talks about the importance of props in filmmaking and how they can enhance the storytelling.  She also discusses the industry landscape for women in European horror, the male dominance in horror film festivals, influential female directors in horror, her creepiest and coolest experiences, advice for female filmmakers, and her upcoming projects and future work.
